North Riding Senior Cup

Redcar Town v Boro Rangers

( played at Boro’s home ground instead of Redcar Town’s )

After being cancelled a couple of times because of various weather conditions, the tie was swapped to Boro’s all weather pitch at Pheonix Park on a bitterly cold night.

Redcar started well with Boro starting very lacklustre and it was no surprise that Redcar opened the scoring with a fine goal looped in to the far top corner over the head of the Boro keeper.

Boro couldn’t get their game going and a free kick for Redcar almost on the corner was not dealt with and was despatched with a good header into the back of the net.

Boro got back into the game with a goal by Guy, just before half time slotted neatly past the Redcar keeper.

Second half was much better by Rangers and a goal by their top scorer, Rose, brought the game back to an equal setting. Redcar hadn’t given up though and a good save by Horner from a free kick kept the scores level and then an effort was hit wide from a good position in front of the goal.

It was from another good Boro attack that the Redcar keeper kept out a header to the bottom of the goal but the save fell to an in coming Rose who crashed the ball into the net from a difficult angle.

That is how it remained and Boro Rangers progress to a home tie with Pickering Town in the next round.
